Whatever ministry or profession God has called us to, we all benefit from taking time for learning and encouragement among our peers. More importantly, when we renew our hearts and minds, those we serve benefit as well.
With that in mind, Feed The Hungry hosted a conference for ministry directors from seven African countries in Kampala, Uganda from April 29 to May 1. Leaders were given opportunities to share about their individual programs, discuss shipping and logistic issues and affirm their commitments to ministering to hungry people. All of the directors enjoyed training, fellowship, worship and prayer.
Courtesy of a generous donor, each director was given an iPad linked to Feed The Hungy’s new FileMaker Pro system to more effectively monitor, evaluate and report on their country’s feeding program. Chris Okumo from Kenya observed, “This conference ignited a fresh vision in my heart for feeding the hungry in the Kibera slum.” Zimbabwe director Elna Mukamuri reported that she returned home with a renewed desire to share the Gospel with children who are being fed. She said, “I feel the excitement of a new direction for ministry. Our desire to see children come to know Christ has been reignited.”
The conference ended with Feed The Hungry USA staff serving communion to the Africa team and praying for each one’s future ministry. Please pray for continued renewal among all of our directors, all around the world.
